You Can Start Over

Hello Damsels!

#GuessWhoIsBizack! Remember when I wrote about The Woman Under The Cape? Well ,I was taking care of her & I’m not ashamed to say: I just needed a break. But I was too worried about eating right, exercising, going to class, working my job(s) and publishing on time. Not to mention growing the online presence.

Life is not a sprint its a marathon. And just like running a distance race, in life there are a few things you should keep in mind.

How Life Is Like A Distance Race

1. The race will eventually end. I know the task of running 26.2 miles seems daunting. But eventually, you will be at mile 25 & the idea of quitting will be fleeting. Then the race will be over. Just like that. snaps fingers. As sure as it will get cold this winter, it will also be warm again in the spring. As sure as the sun will set this evening, it will rise again in the morning. Anything that goes up will come down. And anything that begins will come to en end.

Tough times don’t last but tough people do!

Your strength comes from tenacity, not from easy sailing. So, hang in there honey it will get easier.

2. You will need to stop and take a break.  I know you trained the past 16 weeks for the race & you don’t want to slow your pace to stop and get water at this station but the next one isn’t for 7 more miles; it’s OK to take a break! Even if the only break you take is at mile 14 to use the facilities + hydrate. You. WILL. Need. A. Break. It’s ok to regroup! It’s even ok to go back to the drawing board after you just got back from going back to the drawing board!

3. How you run is more important than if you finish first. Let’s be honest here, winning actually IS everything! But more important than the results of the race is how you ran the race. How did you handle being down? Did you compete fair? Did you win with grace? Did you lose with pride? Long after the race is over when you look back regardless if you win or lose what matters most is if you are proud of your performance!

So remember: There is no shame in starting over. You can start over as many or as few times as you need to. It doesn’t have to wait till January First. It doesn’t have to be on a Monday nor does it have to be at 9 o’clock in the morning. You can start over even right NOW!

Be bold. Live out loud & as always remember,

  1. Great analogy! That note about going back to the drawing board is priceless. Just a reminder you don’t need to have it all figured it out to take action.
